11/18/02 - From the Boston Herald:

When asked about the difference between the Grateful Dead and the Other Ones, Hart said, ``The Other Ones is just another name for the Grateful Dead.

``It really doesn't matter what we call the band,'' he said. ``Right now, it's `the Other Ones.' But if we begin to feel like the original spirit is back and we feel like calling it the Grateful Dead, and the fans feel like calling it the Grateful Dead . . . in all due respect to Jerry . . .''

-------------------------------------

How long will this band, whatever its name, stay together? Hart said all options are open and added that all the shows are being taped.
11/15/02 - According to the Boston Globe, "As to the future, Weir and Kreutzmann say they'd like to have the Other Ones tour annually, but Lesh says that at least for next year, he'd like to spend time with his two sons, aged 13 and 16." And according to the Newark Star-Ledger, "Weir says he doesn't want to speculate on the band's future after [December]. But then he adds, 'I'd be surprised it if doesn't happen again. Exactly how soon ... all that remains to be seen.'"

This latest incarnation of the Dead — which plays under the moniker "The Other Ones" — will shuffle about 130 songs during a 14-city tour, including a number of Dead standards and some from their own bands. They've pulled out several songs from the early 1960s, such as "Till the Morning Comes," that have never been played live.

---------------------------------------

Hart and Lesh said they weren't sure whether the group would get back together again after the tour. For now, they're happy simply to be back on stage together.
