05/19/03 - Some updates on the digitization of the Grateful Dead's tape vault: According to the Boulder Daily Camera, "[the Dead's] management remains in negotiations to have the Grateful Dead's entire live vault digitized and made available for sale online." Regarding downloads vs. custom-order CDs, Bob Weir told the Las Vegas Sun, "I'm not sure that the technology is here quite yet to make [vault material] offerings straight off of the Internet that are of the quality that we want our stuff to go out on. Your standard MP3 files are just audio trash. At the same time it's going to take us awhile to digitize our vault. So I'm thinking give it a couple of years. In the meantime we'll probably be making available custom-order CDs, which is something we can do now. So if you want the first show you saw or every 'Uncle John's Band' from '78 to '82, you can get it."

04/14/03 - Some GD and JGB alumni (Tom Constanten with Reverend Tor Band, Vince Welnick with Dark Star Orchestra, Melvin Seals and JGB) will play Scottypaluza 8.0 05/25/03 in Turin, NY. The event's All Star Jam will feature TC, Vince Welnick, DSO, Melvin Seals, et al.
